1. What Khanak Does
Khanak is a notification reader application for Android. Its sole purpose is to listen for UPI payment notifications (from apps such as Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, and other UPI-enabled applications) and announce the payment amount aloud using your device's Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine.
Khanak does NOT:
- Process, initiate, or interfere with any payment or financial transaction.
- Access your bank account, UPI PIN, or any financial credentials.
- Transmit notification content to any external server.
- Store notification data in any cloud or remote database.
- Sell, share, or rent any user data to third parties.
2. Permissions Used
Khanak requests the following Android permissions:
- Notification Listener Access: Required to read incoming notification text from UPI apps. This permission is used solely to detect payment notifications and trigger voice alerts. It is never used to read unrelated notifications.
- Text-to-Speech (TTS): Used to speak payment amounts aloud. No internet connection is required — it uses your device's built-in TTS engine.
- Foreground Service (optional): Used to keep the app running reliably in the background so alerts are not missed.
You may revoke Notification Listener access at any time through Android Settings → Notification Access.
3. Data Collection
Khanak collects no personal data. Specifically:
- No names, phone numbers, or email addresses are collected.
- No payment amounts or transaction details are uploaded or stored remotely.
- No device identifiers, advertising IDs, or location data are collected.
- No analytics SDKs or tracking libraries are included in the app.
Transaction history displayed within the app is stored locally on your device only and is deleted when you clear the app's data or uninstall it.
4. Team Alerts Feature
If you use the Team Alerts feature, notification text is transmitted locally within your network only. No data is routed through external servers. You are responsible for ensuring your local network is secure.
5. Children's Privacy
Khanak is designed for merchants and business users. The app is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
